Basically iCloud offers a synchronization service for all of your Apple devices rather than a personal storage for all of your devices. If you or anyone close to you uses an Android or Windows device, you're out of luck when it comes to sharing your storage plan. Also, you can not expand your storage capacity beyond the 2TB plan.
